Landscape Crew Leader – WATERDOWN

We are presently seeking a Landscape Crew Leader for our Waterdown branch.

DIVISION: Landscape Construction

REPORTS TO: Project Manager

Positions Available: 1

The Landscape Crew Leader must be able to operate all equipment associated to landscape construction such as Bobcats, excavators, stone saws, chainsaws and vibro plates. This person must be able to perform all tasks associated with landscape construction jobs such as reading and interpreting designs, installing interlock, retaining structures, water features etc. This person should perform with effective leadership; provide supervision and training to crews in a safe and efficient manner. Being able to communicate well with the client, project manager and crew members is essential.

Job Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to)

Yard/Administration:

  • Reports all known defective equipment or protective devices
  • Reports all accidents / injuries to Project Manager or employer, ensure paperwork is completed
  • Comply with all company rules and procedures
  • Uses all machinery, tools, equipment as authorized, including PPE’s, in a safe manner
  • Supports the companies safety culture
  • Fill out timesheets for entire crew – daily
  • Meet with Project Manager to discuss day’s work
  • Sign out truck binder & compound equipment
  • Circle check, pre use equipment inspection, ensure all equipment is safely loaded
  • Performance evaluations for crew members
  • Discuss daily plan with crew; attend tailgate meetings and crew leader meetings, continuous training

In Field:

  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe, efficient and professional manner
  • Ensure that all PPE’s are being worn in compliance with the company and legislative regulations
  • Report defective / broken equipment and other workplace hazards to their Project Manager, or member of the JHSC
  • Train your crew members daily, as to proper techniques, work procedures, maintenance and safety issues
  • Proper care for tools/ equipment on job site to avoid loss or misuse, ensure crew members adhere to dress code
  • Show leadership and guidance to crew members, lead by example
  • Responsible for ensuring crew meets quality standards and stays within the allotted man-hours
  • Ability to operate all equipment (as listed above)
  • Interact with clients on site when needed, provide exceptional customer service in a polite and courteous manner
  • Oversees the quality of workmanship on site, delegates tasks
  • Encourage crew to work together as a team, provide praise and appreciation to all team members
