JOB OPENING: Water Management Technician

We are in search of a Water Management Technician.

Position Title: Water Management Technician

Position Reports to: Water Management Specialist

Position Summary:

The Water Management Technician has knowledge of all aspects of the underground sprinkler systems. The Water Management Technician is required to install, repair and troubleshoot any and all underground lawn sprinkler systems. The irrigation Technician works with minimal supervision.

Duties & Responsibilities (not limited to):

Essential Responsibilities

The following is a list of examples of the most essential responsibilities for this position and in this job class. This list may not include all examples nor does the list include all of the work assigned to this position.

  • Assists in interacting with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering any questions, responding to client requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the job’s completion. Also, ensures that job is completed in the most time-efficient manner.
  • Assists in completing the necessary paperwork including timesheets, work orders, change orders and completing a material list for each job assigned.
  • Reads Irrigation/landscaping plans, must be able to review and implement plans with each team member.
  • Operates vehicle and trailer combinations
  • Operates a variety of mechanical equipment – including but not limited to; trencher, skid steers, Dingo, sod cutters, and drills and any other mechanical equipment required to complete the job assigned.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment.
  • Maintains assigned equipment and notifies Water Management Specialist of needed repairs

Administration:

  • Report on Time
  • Load and unload work trucks and trailers
  • Discuss & organize daily plan with Water Management Specialist
  • Attend biweekly tailgate sessions
  • Assist crew leader in filling out timesheets
  • Ensure that the proper equipment is safely loaded on your truck and trailer

Specifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in irrigation or a related field is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all tasks associated with irrigation
  • Demonstrated ability to operate all irrigation equipment
  • Proven ability to communicate with staff and customers in a professional and confidential manner
  • A self-directed and results oriented individual who shows initiative, is assertive and confident
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Flexible and adaptable with demonstrated ability to multi-task
  • Capable of working effectively as a team member or independently with minimal supervision
  • Possesses a valid G Drivers Licence
  • Willing and capable of obtaining related training, licences and/or certifications as may be required
  • CPR and First Aid is preferred or willingness to obtain as requested
  • Willing to learn and develop professionally with a busy and growth oriented company
  • Due to the nature of the work pre-employment background screening is required such as driver abstract

Working Conditions:

  • Work occurs mainly on-site on customer property, in the company storage sheds or in a casual office environment
  • Work may occur under extreme weather conditions
  • Position is physically demanding with regular lifting (up to 50 lbs), pulling and pushing (up to 150 lbs)
  • Must be capable of work in various positions such as kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Driving on a daily basis is required
