We are committed to environmental stewardship
At Gelderman Landscape Services, we do more than just talk about our commitment to environmental stewardship.
An example of that commitment is the purchase this year of five Toyota Prius cars, which sales people, project managers and designers use to carry out their day-to-day work for our clients.
“We wanted to lower our emissions and impact on the environment in which we work and live in,” says Chris Mace, VP of Landscape and Design. “We feel that this reflects the company tag line of ‘Caring is in our Nature’ – we genuinely do care about the impact we have on the environment and wanted to make a positive contribution.”
The Toyota Prius is a full hybrid hatchback, which the United States Environmental Protection Agency and California Air Resources Board rates as among the cleanest vehicles sold in North America.
Gelderman previously drove six-cylinder pickup trucks, which used a great deal of gasoline. The fleet of Prius cars also allows the company to reduce costs, while getting around in more environmentally friendly vehicles. “It definitely gives us a smaller carbon footprint,” says company president Nathan Helder, who is the past chair of the Landscape Ontario Environmental Stewardship Committee.
